Personal Safety For Travel and Everyday

PERSONAL SAFETY

Trust your instincts.

Keep your keys in your hand; always have them ready to use.

Always lock your doors, house and car.

In the summer, keep your car windows up if possible; use your air conditioner.

Always make eye contact; don't walk with your head down.

Glance under and in your car before getting in.

Look behind you every so often if you are walking alone.

You don't have to speak to anyone you don't know.

When possible, have someone else with you when you go out.

The most important weapon you have is your mind. Be smart by being aware of your surroundings.

HOTEL SAFETY

Sign in using your first initial and last name only.

Do not display your room key in public.

Monitor alcohol consumption.

Before you open the door for room service, require them to slide the bill under the door.Make sure your door locks properly. If not, request another room.

Use all safety locks when securing your door, not just the deadbolt. Deadbolts can still be "unlocked" by certain access cards from hotel security.

Make sure the balcony and adjoining room doors are securely locked.

Do not put your name on the outside of your luggage.

When possible, display the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, whether you are in the room or not.

Leave the TV or radio on when you leave the room.
