'Osteoarthritis in Women'

Aching bones and joints due to osteoarthritis occur earlier and are more severe in women than in men. Typically there is pain in one or only a few joints, sometimes with inflammation and maybe a gritty or grinding sensation. Morning stiffness that lasts less than 30 minutes and improves with some activity or

improves with a warm shower is often seen with osteoarthritis. 

Pain may be increased by mild to moderate physical activity. Besides being female, risk for osteoarthritis is increased by excess weight, age, injury and mechanical stress.    More >

 


'New Advance in Sunscreen'

A new FDA-approved line of sunscreens now protects against intense and harmful ultraviolet A, or UVA, radiation, which scientists have linked to wrinkles, basal and squamous cell cancers, and melanoma.

An ingredient called encamsule works to screen out the UVA rays. Previously available broad-spectrum sunscreens protect against UVB radiation as measured by the SPF number, but have less effective UVA protection.  More >
