As we age, our skin’s production of collagen decreases, and it natural turnover of cells slow down. At this time, you may begin to notice signs of aging - lines and wrinkles, loss of elasticity, enlarged pores and lack of radiance.
Q: What can you do to help maintain skin's beauty at any age?
A: Plenty!
Use products appropriate to your skin's individual needs. These may include products for dry, oily or normal skin; day and night creams; products formulated specifically for eyes, lips, hands, feet and body; and sometimes even different products for different seasons throughout the year.
Practice a healthy skin care regimen every day! Cleanse, tone and moisturize morning and night.
Protection is a must! Use a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with a minimum SPF (sun protection factor) of at least 15 on all exposed skin, every day! Even on cloudy days, sun penetrates and may cause damage.
For serious skin renewal and anti-aging, try at-home dermatological treatments and use on a regular basis. Not sure which is right for you? Consult a professional for more information.
Adjust your skin care routine to the season (and climate). Try a lighter formula for summer, and a richer treatment in winter to combat dry skin.
Your mother was correct! Always remove make up before going to bed!
Nourish your skin from the inside out...drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water daily.
Get your beauty sleep! Is 8 hours right for you? Whatever the right sleep-time is for you... strive for consistency!
Keep stress to a minimum...relax and breathe deeply whenever possible to relieve tension and reduce stress.
Smile! The single most important thing you can do to improve your looks is to smile. Beauty radiates from within... and a positive outlook is contagious…share your spirit with the world... and, your own self esteem will soar!
